{"id":202,"date":"2008-09-02T02:18:19","date_gmt":"2008-09-02T07:18:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.timothyhanson.com\/?p=202"},"modified":"2008-09-03T12:43:15","modified_gmt":"2008-09-03T17:43:15","slug":"google-browser","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.timothyhanson.com\/?p=202","title":{"rendered":"Google Browser: Chrome"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/googlebooks\/chrome\/\">Chrome Documentation<br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/chrome\">Chrome Download<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Read the documentation, it&#8217;s very interesting how they&#8217;ve gone through the architectural process.\u00a0 I was thinking just the other day how I use IE\/Firefox\/Safari all fairly interchangeably.\u00a0 Yes, I said Safari, I actually think it is the fastest web page renderer but I&#8217;m not sure.<\/p>\n<p>I feel old recalling a time where if you used IE you were doomed to spyware and other bad things, but most things have been resolved in IE7, not all, but most things.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not a big plug-in user for Firefox so the transition is pretty seamless between all the browsers for me.\u00a0 The big plug-in I use is Sage for my RSS feeds but I keep getting pressured into using Google Reader.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, it&#8217;ll be very interesting to see Google entering the browser war.\u00a0 I wonder how quickly it will be adopted.\u00a0 If they can deliver on the speed and reliability, I think a lot of Firefox users would probably switch.\u00a0 IE has such deep penetration on the market because of its bundling with Windows.\u00a0 There are A LOT of people who can&#8217;t abstract the idea that the Internet and IE are seperate entities.\u00a0 I had someone at work who had no idea that you could get to web pages with something that wasn&#8217;t IE.\u00a0 So we&#8217;ll see.\u00a0 There&#8217;s a level of marketing that would have to be pushed out to go to the average user.\u00a0 Alternately, if they have some great packaging options like they seem to be doing with things like Adobe Reader then it might take off pretty quickly as well.<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE: Anyone using Symantec Endpoint Protection (which includes anyone at TTU using the antivirus software)<\/p>\n<p>If upon boot you see this message: &#8220;<span style=\"border-collapse: separate; font-size: 13px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 20px; orphans: 2; text-align: justify; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; color: #333333;\">The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005).
